FAQ 37 Should I use an accountant or a lawyer to setup my trust?

This is a question that puzzles many investors.

The choice ultimately is yours, however we personally favour using an accountant. We feel that our accountant will have to deal with the trust at tax time so it is best that they are aware of the trust and its setup  including the organization of tax file numbers and where required ABN\’s and GST registration.  Your accountant is more of a one stop shop than your lawyer, although your accountant may defer the preparation of the trust to a lawyer.

There is an alternative however. Why not have both!
