FAQ 82 How can I estimate the cost of building?

The cost of building can be obtained from a few sources:

  1. The feasibility study – there is an estimator section which allows the investor to specify the state ,the specification level of building and the type of property. It will provide an estimated cost per sq metre
  2. The BMT website – depreciation specialists have to be able to provide build costs for depreciation purposes. Here is the website: http://www.bmtqs.com.au/construction-cost-calculator
  3. Any Insurance Company online assessment calculator. Here is the one which NRMA provides:https://homebuilding.cordell.com.au/index.php?c=survey&restart=1\”eFromForm=brochure&profile=34&ReturnURL=https://www.insuranceonline.nrma.com.au/insurance-quotes/home-building-insurance/longCalculatorReturnToTerms.do?theme=sgio
